Jazz in the Gardens Set to Ignite Kingston’s Music Scene with All-Star Lineup

The countdown has begun for one of Kingston’s most exclusive and anticipated musical events, ‘Jazz in the Gardens,’ set to take centre stage at the prestigious Jamaica Pegasus Gardens on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

From 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the lush venue at 81 Knutsford Boulevard will come alive with the sounds of Jamaica’s premier jazz talent in what insiders call the must-see musical event of the season.

The evening’s lineup reads like a who’s who of Jamaica’s music elite, offering a unique opportunity to witness powerhouse performances from Rojjah Mendez, Judi Emanuel, Alex Welcome, Nicole Simone, Diamara, Nexus, and the legendary Fab 5. Rosie Murray will steer the ship as the evening’s emcee.

Headliner Rojjah Mendez is expected to deliver one of the night’s most electrifying performances. Known for his crowd-commanding presence and spectacular footwork, Mendez has built an impressive career since his early days touring Japan with the United Force Band.

“This event represents everything that makes Kingston the creative heartbeat of Jamaican music,” Murray told reporters. “The lineup we’ve assembled showcases the incredible depth of talent our island continues to produce.”

Music industry insiders are particularly excited about Mendez’s evolution as the frontman for Obessa, the backing band formerly behind reggae icon Toots Hibbert. His collaborations with production legends Danny Browne, Steely, Cleveland Browne, and Chalice’s Allah have cemented his reputation as one of Jamaica’s most versatile performers.

Having already conquered stages at Reggae Sumfest and Jazz & Blues, Mendez’s appearance at Jazz in the Gardens continues his ascent in Jamaica’s competitive music scene.

The event, subtitled ‘The Best from the West,’ is produced with entertainment and community in mind. Organisers have committed a portion of proceeds to benefit the Women’s Centre, Best Care Foundation, and V.O.U.C.H.

For those looking to secure their spot, tickets are available at Music Mart (Kingston 10), Signatures Boutique (Upper Waterloo Road), and Jamaica Pegasus for $6,500. Day-of-show tickets will be available at the gate for $7,000, while VIP packages, including hors d’oeuvres and drinks, are priced at $12,000.

With Kingston continuing to establish itself as “the creative city for music,” Jazz in the Gardens represents the perfect fusion of entertainment excellence and cultural celebration with music fans buzzing across the island.
