14 Yr Old Make History As Youngest University Student In Jamaica To Be Accepted Into UTECH

The University of Technology, Jamaica, under the leadership of President Dr. Kevin Brown, recently extended a warm welcome to Jada Wright, the youngest student ever to enroll in a degree program at the institution. Jada, a budding computer science scholar, commenced her studies at the School of Computing and Information Technology within the Faculty of Engineering and Computing in January.

President Dr. Brown and the university's leadership team embraced Jada and her parents, including her mother, Judian Wright, an alumna of UTech, Jamaica. The meeting, held on January 16, provided an opportunity for Jada to acclimate to tertiary studies and exchange thoughts and expectations with the university.

Dr. Brown highlighted UTech, Jamaica's rich history in delivering computer science education, emphasizing the institution's modernized curriculum that includes courses in AI and contemporary technology. He assured Jada of comprehensive support throughout her academic journey and encouraged her to engage in various university experiences, such as clubs, societies, and international competitions.


Jada's decision to pursue computer science at UTech, Jamaica stemmed from her deep connection to the institution, as both her parents are alumni. Her meticulous research into the program's offerings, practical approach, and enthusiasm displayed in orientation videos solidified her choice to join the university.


Despite her young age of 14, Jada has already achieved remarkable academic success, including excelling in CSEC subjects and establishing the Caribbean Online Academy. With aspirations to become a software engineer and entrepreneur, Jada is eager to embrace the hands-on university experience and work towards realizing her dreams.
