Buju Banton Announces 'The Overcomer Tour' to Thrill Reggae Fans Across the US

Buju Banton, the renowned reggae superstar, has thrilled fans with the announcement of "The Overcomer Tour." Presented in association with AG Touring, Gargamel Music, and XO Management, the tour will cover 16 cities across the United States, beginning in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the Amerant Bank Arena on August 23, 2024, and concluding in Brooklyn, New York, at the Barclays Center on November 17, 2024.

The Long Walk to Freedom Tour's final two sold-out shows at the UBS Arena in New York City were historic, with a staggering attendance of 19,000 people per show. Buju Banton was joined by esteemed guest artists Gramps Morgan, Nadine Sutherland, Fat Joe, and Remy Ma, adding to the excitement and energy of the performances.

"The Overcomer Tour" is set to be the first solo headlining arena tour by a reggae artist in the US with a capacity of 20,000 people. Buju Banton's return to the music scene has sparked anticipation among fans and music insiders, wondering if he can deliver a new album on par with his classic masterpiece, 'Til Shiloh (1995).

Michael Goldwasser, CEO of Easy Star Records, expressed his happiness for Buju's return and the anticipation surrounding his performances in the US. While Banton's previous albums released after his prison sentence received mixed receptions, fans and industry insiders are hopeful for a potential musical resurgence.

Buju Banton's album 'Til Shiloh remains his only Gold-certified album in the US, surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify for its 25th anniversary in 2020. The reggae icon plans to release a new album soon, promising fans 100% hardcore reggae-dancehall music that will ignite the passion for reggae music once again.

Reflecting on the current state of reggae music, Banton acknowledges that the genre is in need of assistance. However, he aims to revitalize the genre and prove that it is far from dead. The artist also expressed his appreciation for the fusion of R&B and reggae, citing the success of his collaboration with Victoria Monét on the song "Party Girls" from Monét's Grammy-winning debut album "Jaguar II."
