Candise Bulli, Brand Manager, St. Mary’s Tropical Snacks, gets animated while sharing details of the fresh, new packaging for the St. Mary’s Plantain Chips varieties.

St. Mary’s, a brand synonymous with quality and tradition, has once again raised the bar in the Jamaican snack industry with the successful launch of its 'Cheese Up Yuh Summa' Digital Campaign and the unveiling of its newly enhanced packaging for the St. Mary’s Plantain Chips varieties.

The event, aptly themed the ‘St. Mary’s Cheese ‘N’ Seas’ Experience, was a meticulously curated affair reflecting the brand’s commitment to excellence and consumer satisfaction. The celebration began a scenic voyage aboard the Loose Cannon Catamaran, where the St. Mary’s team, alongside their specially-invited guests embarked on a journey to Maiden Cay. The day was filled with sun, sea, sand and of course, St. Mary’s signature snacks.

David Martin, VP of Business Consulting at Pan Jamaica Group, welcomed attendees with a warm address. “This is not just any boat ride, but a celebration of innovation, flavour, and fun. We’ve brought together influencers, media, and loyal consumers to experience the best of what St. Mary’s has to offer. All our St. Mary’s products are crafted with freshly harvested fruits blessed by the Caribbean sea and sun.  As we set sail with Banana Chips with Cheese, we invite everyone to relax, soak up some sun, and indulge in our delicious snacks and food creations.”

Radio personality Michaela Brown, better known as Pariis of Fame95 FM, skilfully took the helm as the event’s host, while DJ Ragga kept the vibe soaring with an energetic mix on board.

Upon arrival at Maiden Cay, guests were welcomed by the reigning St. Mary’s SunCity104.9 FM High School Disc Jockey Competition Champion, DJ Kovert, who took over with a seamless flow playing hit after hit. The ‘Cheese ‘N’ Seas Experience was further amplified with dynamic performances by local artistes Chris Malachi, Prince Saj, and Kaka Highflames, creating an atmosphere of adventure, praise and true Jamaican culture. with Pariis’ infectious energy steering the event, the guests could not resist participating in the range of activities, including Giant Jenga, Ludo, ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, Toes…Chips’, and various eating competitions.

Martin praised the St. Mary’s Tropical Snacks team for their execution, noting “I appreciate the thoughtful addition of shaded areas on the cay. The branding is spot-on, and it’s great to see everyone also having fun in the sun. It’s particularly exciting to witness people not only savouring our snacks but also indulging in the innovative ‘Crunchers Locos’ and tacos topped with our ripe plantain chips. Safe to say, the team provided an enhanced consumer experience which surpassed expectations.”

 Looking Ahead

The event also served as the official unveiling of the fresh and vibrant, new packaging for St. Mary’s Plantain Chips varieties. The redesign goes beyond aesthetics; it reflects St. Mary’s unwavering commitment to delivering top-quality products. The upgraded packaging is engineered to maintain optimal freshness and shelf life, ensuring that every bag of St. Mary’s Plantain Chips remains as crispy and delicious as the day it was sealed.

Candise Bulli, St. Mary’s Tropical Snacks Brand Manager, emphasised that the core of this campaign is St. Mary’s dedication to offering snacks that are not only delicious and nutritious, but fun and diverse. “Our St. Mary’s Banana Chips with Cheese, formerly known as the St. Mary’s Banana Chips Cheese & Onion, has been steadily growing consistently in popularity over the years. Despite the success, we recognised an opportunity to increase awareness of this unique product. ‘Cheese Up Yuh Summa’, embodies fun, innovation, diversity and uniqueness. Our Banana Chips, a beloved staple in Jamaican households, have been enhanced to deliver even more flavour and nutritional benefits. Rich in dietary fibre, essential minerals like iron and potassium, these chips provide a satisfying energy boost, making them a perfect snack for both children and adults. For our plantain chips our goal was to modernise the packaging while preserving our classic look and feel,” Bulli remarked.

She further expressed her gratitude and excitement, noting how pleased she was with the event’s concept coming to life and the positive reception from attendees.

As St. Mary’s celebrates its 20th anniversary, the brand is poised to continue its tradition of innovation and excellence. Consumers can look forward to more exciting developments as St. Mary’s continues to lead the way in the Jamaican snack industry.

St. Mary’s extends special thanks to Main Events, Loose Cannon Catamaran, Chillitos, Eclipse Signs & Designs Limited, Wisynco, and all those who contributed to making the 'Cheese N’ Seas' event a resounding success. The brand is grateful for the unwavering support of its consumers and partners and is excited about the future.
