Shericka Jackson Continues Dominance in 200 Meters Victory At Zurich Diamond League

Shericka Jackson of Jamaica dominated the women's 200 meters at the Zurich Diamond League on Thursday, Aug 31 2023 clocking 21.82 seconds to win by more than a second.

Jackson was in complete control of the race from the start, leading all the way to the finish line. Her winning time was just over four-hundredths of a second slower than her world-leading run of 21.78 seconds that she used to claim the 200m world title in Eugene, Oregon, last week.

The second-place finisher was Namibia's Christine Mboma, who ran 22.94 seconds. The third-place finisher was Switzerland's Mujinga Kambundji, who ran 23.05 seconds.

Jackson's victory was her third consecutive win in the 200 meters at the Zurich Diamond League. She also won the event in 2019 and 2021.

Jackson is now the clear favorite to win the 200 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest next summer. She is also a contender for the 100 meters, but she has said that she will focus on the 200 meters in Budapest.

Jackson's dominance in the 200 meters is a reminder of her status as one of the fastest women in the world. She is a two-time world champion and a two-time Olympic medalist. She is also the current world-leader in the event.

Jackson is a rising star in the sport of track and field. She is poised to continue her dominance in the 200 meters for many years to come.
